Nearly 20,000 people in the Balearic Islands receive minimum wage

44.5% of the minimum wage recipients are minors, a total of 8,816 citizens.

Almost 20,000 citizens residing in the Balearic Islands received the ‘ingreso mínimo vital‘ (IMV)(minimum wage) at the end of 2022, 8% more than in October, as highlighted yesterday by the Government Delegation.

44.5% of minimum wage recipients are minors

The agency headed by Aina Calvo said in a statement that there are 19,770 beneficiaries, and of them 8,816 (44.5%) are minors, a sector of the population to which this benefit that aims to alleviate the impact of poverty is especially focused.

In addition, 3,813 benefits have already been granted in the islands to date with the child support supplement (CAPI), which came into force a year ago and involves monthly contributions of between 50 and 100 euros per household, depending on the age of the minor recipient of the aid

The Government Delegation recalls that this year the minimum wage incentive for employment comes into force to encourage the incorporation of recipients into the labor market or to increase the working hours of those who are employed.
