Ibizan boxing has a new and important asset that is already causing a stir with fans of the island’s fighting world. We are referring to Sergio Fernández Lorenzo, better known as ‘El Kaiser’, who has made his home in Ibiza, where the double Spanish middleweight champion has been training for several months and is carrying out his preparation for the upcoming national super welterweight title.
Born in Gijon, Sergio ‘El Kaiser’ Fernandez has a long and brilliant sporting career as a boxer, both amateur and professional. And his first appearance in the ring on the island of Ibiza, as Diario de Ibiza exclusively reports, will take place on May 7th at the Polideportivo de Sa Blanca Dona, in an event presenting the Asturian to the Pitiusa fans.
Sergio ‘El Kaiser’ Fernandez’s fight is part of an interesting evening organized by the Ibiza Boxing Club and will feature several amateur and professional fights for the enjoyment of the island’s fans.
‘El Kaiser’ to relaunch his boxing career
Sergio ‘El Kaiser’ Fernandez stands out as a fighter for having an aggressive and pressuring middle distance style, although he is also a good counter puncher. The fighter from Gijón wants to relaunch his professional career on the island after achieving important successes in the last few years, in which he has become two times professional middleweight champion of Spain.
One of his most important triumphs was the great victory over the popular Javier García Roche, ‘El Rey Chatarrero’, in a fight in which he defended his national title.
Now Sergio ‘El Kaiser’ Fernandez has established his training base on the island of Ibiza, where his main trainer is Marco Antonio García, from the Escuela de Lucha Primer Asalto, while his manager is still Néstor Domínguez, a fellow countryman of the Asturian and based in Mallorca, and who has been closely linked to the Balearic Boxing Federation for years.
His opponent on May 7th in Sa Blanca Dona will be the experienced Nicaraguan boxer Santos Medrano, which will be a first step for ‘El Kaiser’ in order to achieve the goal of becoming Spanish champion again and to do so having the island of Ibiza as his sporting home.
