Housing rental subsidies: Ibiza Town Hall has set aside 348,000€ in grants

125 applications for housing rental subsidies for 2021 have been authorized, and they will begin to be distributed "in the coming days."

Yesterday, the local board of the City Council of Ibiza approved the issuance of 125 housing rental subsidies for the payment of housing rent to both families and individuals. According to a news statement issued by the Consistory yesterday, this municipal program of housing assistance would invest 348,000 euros in total for the year 2021.

According to the City Council, the assistance will begin to be distributed “in the coming days” and will be divided into two groups based on the characteristics and pricing of various leases.

On the one hand, there are the properties with rents of up to 1,200 euros per month, whose renters may get a maximum of 5,760 euros in aid, provided that this contribution does not exceed 40% of the contract price [up to 480€/month]. Vila has authorized a total of 71 similar applications.

The Ibiza Town Hall, on the other hand, has formed a second group of assistance aimed solely at those under the age of 35 or above the age of 65. In this situation, the municipal contribution is doubled to 7,200 euros, and it can cover up to 50% of the cost of each of these rents [600€ each month]. According to the Consistory’s news release, this group of aid for elderly and young citizens would be provided to 51 individuals.

Rafa Ruiz, the mayor of Ibiza, stated that the government team “is committed to housing policies, with rental aid and the transfer of land to Ibavi (Balearic Homes Institute) to create subsidised housing.”
