Health Department reveals 90% of covid cases in ICU Balearic Islands are not immunized

Francesc Albertí, deputy director of Hospital Care, details that of the twenty-six people admitted to critical care units, only three have the complete regimen while the rest have one or no doses

Three of the twenty-six people are currently admitted to a critical care unit in this Community, despite having complied strictly with the recommendations of the health authorities and having been vaccinated in due time with the two mandatory doses of the vaccine against Covid-19.

But Francesc Albertí, deputy director of Atención Hospitalaria del Servei de Salut, yesterday made another reading of these same data by highlighting that only three of the twenty-six covid-19 patients in a more serious state have completed the vaccination schedule, the only effective measure to protect against the pandemic, while the rest have either not been vaccinated or have only had one dose.

Although, it is not one hundred percent effective, as Albertí himself acknowledged and as the figures provided yesterday showed. “The vaccine is highly effective in 90% of cases,” said the senior official of the Servei de Salut.

One of those admitted to the ICU with the double vaccination schedule is a Ib-Salut physician who had to be transferred to the ICU of Son Espases where he was recovering favorably yesterday. Health sources said that, although intubated and mechanically ventilated, the reinfected doctor no longer needed muscle relaxants, which suggested he was recovering well.
