A New York ‘socialite’ named Libbie Mugrabi denounced on Tuesday in declarations to the New York Post the theft of 500,000 dollars, mostly in jewelry and clothes, in a hotel on Ibiza, although she recognizes that she did not file the proper complaint with the Police of the Spanish island.
Mugrabi, who takes her surname from billionaire David Mugrabi, whom she divorced last year after a very public trial that earned her $100 million, went for a vacation at a luxury resort in Ibiza, where she was to record a lifestyle show for German broadcaster RTL.
According to what she told the New York Post, when she packed her bags to continue her trip to the French Riviera, she discovered that she was missing goods “worth half a million”: Cartier jewelry, Balenciaga pieces, hats with diamonds and crocodile skin shoes, among other things.
Mugrabi approached the hotel reception and said that she did not intend to pay the bill for her stay until the alleged theft was resolved, whereupon reception called the Police.
When the agents arrived, they told the ‘socialite’ that she should report to the police station to formalize a complaint, but she refused.
Instead, she paid the bill and continued her trip as planned to the city of Cannes, France.
Unreported theft
She further claims that once in Cannes she discovered that her exclusive Chase Saphire credit card had allegedly been used by the thieves, who emptied her account of $140,000, but she did not report it to the authorities either, but rather informed her bank.
