Police trace rarm where man was suspectedly murdered and ibizan Juan Torres ‘Rotavella’ arrested for disappearance

The missing man lived with the notorious Ibiza criminal for a year

The Guardia Civil‘s team of dogs trained to locate buried bodies is currently conducting a search operation in a rustic property located in Binissalem, Mallorca. There is suspicion that Antonio Llabrés Mayrata, who was reported missing in 2020, may have been murdered at the property. Llabrés Mayrata, a 48-year-old man, had hosted Juan Torres Serra, also known as Rotavella, a notorious Ibizan criminal who has been investigated for the disappearance of three people in Ibiza over the last few decades, including Llabrés Mayrata himself.

Torres Serra was arrested by the Civil Guard when they discovered his criminal background, but no charges could be brought against him as the bodies of the missing persons were never found.

The Guardia Civil conducted a thorough inspection of the Binissalem estate in December 2020 as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Antonio Llabrés, a local resident who was last seen on August 24, 2019. During the investigation, the Guardia Civil discovered that Llabrés had hosted Juan Torres Serra, also known as Rotavella, in his home for a period of time. This crucial piece of information raised red flags, as Torres Serra is a well-known criminal who is now 58 years old and was previously convicted in 1998 for kidnapping and torturing a man.

Over the past few decades, Torres Serra has been investigated in connection with the disappearance of three other individuals in Eivissa. In all cases, he had taken up residence in the homes of the missing persons, which was also the case with Llabrés in Binissalem. Despite extensive efforts, the remains of the missing individuals were never found, which prevented Torres Serra from being charged in connection with their disappearances.

In December 2020, a sizable group of civil guards, equipped with trained dogs and excavators, combed through the Binissalem estate in search of any evidence of burial, but their efforts yielded no results. The search has now been reignited with the arrival of a specialized team of canine guides and highly trained dogs from Madrid who are experts in detecting human remains. Earlier this week, the team was involved in the inspection of the Sa Porrassa estate, located near the area where Malén Ortiz disappeared, but they were unable to find any leads.

This morning, the team arrived at the Binissalem estate to resume the search for any clues relating to the case of Antonio Llabrés. The team’s arrival has renewed hope that progress can be made in the investigation, as their expertise and experience in detecting human remains are considered to be highly specialized.
