The data from the housing study commissioned by the Ibiza City Council also reflects the monthly cost for residents to live at home, whether they are renting or paying a mortgage.
The study shows that 41% of the dwellings on Ibiza are rented, almost 6,000 in total. Of these, details are provided on the cost of rent in 4,374 dwellings. 1,606 of them pay more than 1,000 euros per month. 959 of these tenants, pay rent of between 1,001 and 1,300 euros. In 414 homes, rent costs between 1,301 and 1,600 euros.
On the lower end of the rent scale, the bulk of tenants pay between 701 and 1,000 euros (1,819), while there are 899 lucky ones who pay less than 700 euros per month.
Mortgage payments less than renting
It is also clear from the figures that living with a mortgage comes out much cheaper, at least month to month, than having a rental contract. The bulk of the mortgages, more than half of the 1,485 mortgaged homes, have a monthly cost of less than 700 euros. Less than 10% of these mortgages are for more than 1,000 euros.
