Jesús promotes recycling and reuse at ‘Jesús reutiliza’ this Saturday

The initiative promoting recycling and exchange, organized by Jesús en Transició and the Grup d'Educació Alternativa, will take place on Saturday

“Encouraging recycling and exchange” is the aim of the ‘Jesús reutiliza’ (Jesus Reuses) initiative which will take place on Saturday, January 28th from 11am to 5pm in the town square. The project is the succesor of initiatives from previous years, also promoted by (Jesús en Transició (Jesús in Transition) specifically, the Festa Solstici d’Hivern and the Mercat Social. The neighborhood platform and the Grup d’Educació Alternativa (GEA) are the promoters on this occasion for a day dedicated to repair and exchange, in which the Santa Eulària City Council and the Apima from the Jesús school collaborate, among others.

Recycling, reuse and exchange

As explained by Xavier Duran, president of Jesús en Transició, the market to be held on the 28th preserves some initiatives from the Festa Solstici d’Hivern such as “the exchange point for clothes and second-hand objects“. “We don’t barter here, you can take what you want for free if you have left something in return,” he clarifies.

‘Jesús reutiliza’ will have a space in which the owner of the store La Cicloteca “will repair bicycles free of charge” and will offer bikes for sale that he has recycled and second-hand accessories. The Club Ciclista Es Xebel-lí d’Eivissa will also be there exhibiting recycled bicycles from the members of the group.

The Deixalles Foundation will set up a stand with a sample of everything it repairs and recycles and will sell second-hand clothes. “In addition, one of the organization’s collaborators who is dedicated to stringing and restoring chairs will participate,” adds Duran.
