New details continue to come to light on the searches for the ‘Dragon Ball‘ operation against drug trafficking and money laundering on the island of Ibiza, the main hub of operations for the Albanian and Italian organizations dismantled in the macro-operation that reaped its rewards last week.
The final number of arrests on the island is now known and the last operation has reaped its rewards. It has resulted inย the most arrests, with 28 made in only three days. They are those of 17 Italian citizens, 6 Albanians, 2 Ecuadorians, 1 Argentinean, 1 Hungarian and another of African origin whose nationality has not been specified.
Dragon Ball Operation a blow to drug trafficking
The search phase of the ‘Dragon Ball’ operation has been a blow to drug trafficking in two stages. 11 arrests were carried out on Ibiza between Tuesday of the previous week and last Wednesday, and 17 were carried out on Saturday. The latter occurred at noon on Monday at the Ibiza courts. Of these, four were released and 13 must remain in prison.
These are in addition to the three imprisoned on Thursday, which implied the release of the remaining eight detainees who were brought before the courts that same day. In short, 16 of those involved on Ibiza have gone to prison and the other twelve are free. The procedural situation of thirteen of them – those arrested on Saturday – is unknown at the moment. The other three are released without bail. They cannot leave the island and must go to the courts once a month to sign.
The Guardรญa Civil highlights that the operation has prevented the introduction of a stash of drugs into the market with a black market value of 4.1 million. The armed forces intercepted a huge quantity of MDMA, 18 kilos, equivalent to 72,000 doses of ecstasy -alternatively, 870,000 pills of the drug could have been ‘cooked’-, to which 4.5 kilos of cocaine and ten kilos of marijuana must be added.
The Guardia Civil exhibited the drugs from the Dragon Ball operation yesterday at the Can Sifre barracks. Along with the large bags of ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana, significant amounts of pink cocaine were exhibited, as well as dozens of small packages of hashish, ecstasy pills, and even a baggie with the drug known as crystal. Just as striking, if not more so, than the drugs seized were the bundles of banknotes, duly sorted. Even in large bills, it was impossible for the more than 320,000 euros seized from the organization to go unnoticed. There were also six watches (the Guardia Civil explains that watches of the luxury brands Bulgari, Rolex and Cartier were seized).
