One of Ibiza’s hotel jewels set for sale

An Italian company is currently negotiating the purchase of an emblematic establishment on the island

On July 10, 2021, the long-awaited opening of the Six Senses Hotel in Ibiza took place five-star conceived by architect and developer Jonathan Leitersdorf.

Metric Capital, owner of this luxury Ibizan hotel, would currently be found negotiating its sale to the Italian Gruppo Statutowho in October 2023 acquired the five-star Six Senses Roma (from Orion Capital) for €245 million, making it the highest hotel transaction in Italy and one of the highest in Europe (€2.6 million per room).

Statuto, moreover, would not be the first time it invests in Ibiza. In August 2023 it made its debut in hotel investment in Spain buying from Marriot the W Hotel in Santa Eulària (former Orquídea), which has 125 rooms and 37 suites. The Italian group owns, among others, the Four Seasons in Milan, the Mandarin in Milan and the Danieli in Venice, among others.

The Six Senses Hotel in Ibiza has become, since its opening, one of the best in the world. Last year it was recognized as one of the best hotels on the planet in the first edition of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023held in London. The list, compiled by 580 independent experts, is 50 Best’s first foray into the travel space and its first new global ranking since the launch of The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2009.

Six Senses Ibiza is one of the two hotels in Spain and the only one in the Balearic Islands included in the inaugural ranking of The World’s 50 Best Hotels, which recognizes a total of 21 hotels in Europe, 18 in Asia, three in Africa, six in North America, one in Africa and one in Oceania. The list highlights the most outstanding hotel experiences from around the world, which will shape the aspirations of consumers, travelers and hoteliers over the coming months.

Opening in July 2021 in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja, Six Senses Ibiza, ranked 49th on the list, is the first Six Senses hotel in Spain and the first Breeam sustainably certified resort in the Balearics. It has 116 rooms and suites, 19 townhouses and two mansions with up to 10 bedrooms,
