The replacement works damaged pipe in es Caló de s’Oli “are progressing” at a good pace, as confirmed on Monday by the Department of Environment, which expects that “the leak will be rectified by the end of this week”.
In this regard, they point out that on October 6th the first analysis of the water in the area was carried out, with results confirming the presence of fecal matter, but “well below the limit set by the law that regulates swimming water”.
Es Caló de s’Oli water will continue to be monitored
The general secretary of the Balearic Water Agency (Abaqua), Juan Calvo, details that samples were taken in the area near the spill, next to the auditorium of es Caló de s’Oli, and in the interior of the bay. At the first point, the results showed the presence of 75 units of Escherichia coli (E. coli) per 100 milliliters, when the limit is set at 500 units, and 30 units of intestinal enterococci, while the limit value is 200. In the case of the interior of the bay, the records have shown 81 units and 14 respectively.
“Continuous monitoring is being undertaken and, in fact, samples have been taken again today in the area,” says Calvo.
