The most electric Bloop Festival arrives in Ibiza with Said Dokins as headliner

The 15th edition brings together urban artists from all over the world on the island from 12 to 25 August.

Urban artists from all over the world will once again gather in Eivissa for the Bloop Festival, which this month celebrates its 15th edition in collaboration with Endesa. On this occasion, the works will be exhibited on three different supports: in “ubiquitous electrical transformer stations scattered all over the island”, on the façade of the Endesa power station in the town of Eivissa, over 500 square metres of which will be transformed into artistic canvases for the artists to show their creativity, and in an ephemeral exhibition inside the power station from 18 to 20 August.

This new edition, which as always will be free, will take place between August 12 and 25 and the headliner is the Mexican artist Said Dokins, who has been one of the leading figures in previous editions. The rest of the guest artists (about ten) will be revealed in real time during the festival, and the organizers say that it will be an artistically diverse line-up. The details of the program (specific days of each work and schedules) will be revealed later. Activities for children are always included.

In addition to the above, the Bloop will also welcome “vibrant new murals, interactive installations, photography exhibitions and innovative urban art.”. “From traditional art to new and innovative art forms, Bloop never stops exploring emerging talent and new avenues of proactive art,” they add from the festival in a press release.

In its 2023 edition, Bloop’s central theme will be ‘Believe’. The main artist, Said Dokins, is considered by Forbes magazine as one of the best urban artists of the moment. “His style is infused with patterns, textures, narratives and urban experiences and his pieces recall through calligraffiti the relationship between time, space and memory.”the festival emphasizes.

On the other hand, the Bloop Art Festival Ibiza app, known as the ‘Pokémon GO of graffiti’, has been updated: “Not only will it allow users to discover information about the murals and find artworks through geolocation, but it will be enriched with the new augmented reality (AR) feature. Users will be able to discover 3D pieces scattered all over the island using AR, transforming the Bloop experience into an immersive adventure,” concludes the statement. Created by Biokip Labs, a creative studio based in Milan, Bloop is one of the world’s leading outdoor galleries and a leading international urban and proactive art festival, now with new virtual elements. It has behind it more than 60 murals and outdoor installations by renowned artists such as Martha Cooper, Phlegm, Okuda, Olek, Ben Eine, Inti, Spy, Interesni Kazki, Amadama, among others. The festival has held editions in Michoacán (Mexico) and Milan (Italy).

Transformation

The XV edition, with the help of Endesa

Intervening public and private spaces on the island, Bloop joins forces with Endesa, “further elevating the OpenAir Gallery project that for the past 15 years has temporarily transformed degraded and iconic places in Ibiza with more than 60 large-scale murals”.
