The head of service of the Presidency of the Consell de Ibiza issued a report on August 4th to correct their previous one, signed almost two years earlier (September 7th, 2020), to clarify that the budget requested from the production company Republicana de Cine CB which finally executed the filming of the special tourist promotion campaign ‘La vida Islados‘, was requested after the contracting of Fuera de Escena Ibiza SL exclusively to corroborate that its cost (250,000 euros) was in line with the market price.
Initially, the report by this lawyer, with which the president of the Consell de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, lifted the objection of Intervention to the payment of the invoice of 162.257 euros for the spot to Fuera de Escena Ibiza, pointing out that the budget requested from Republicana de Cine CB (of 437,653 euros) for the same work “was rejected because its amount was substantially higher than that provided by the company awarded the contract”.
Two years later, in August, the head of the Presidency service of the Consell de Ibiza signed a complementary report to correct this point of the previous one. The official justifies the need to clarify this issue to deny the accusations made by the socialist group between April and June of this year, after this newspaper revealed that the Anti-Corruption Office of the Balearic Islands had transferred this matter to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Complaint from the Prosecutor’s Office
As this newspaper advanced yesterday, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has now filed a complaint in the Court of Instruction number 4 of Ibiza against the president of the Consell de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, for an alleged crime of prevarication for the contract, by emergency means, with Fuera de Escena Ibiza for the filming of the special tourist campaign during the first summer of covid.
The lawyer recalls that the PSOE has denounced “falsification of budgets to justify the contract”, that the objection of the deputy comptroller was raised based on “false budgets” or that these were prepared “in collusion between the beneficiary companies”. It should be noted that, as denounced by the PSOE, in the budget of Republicana de Cine CB appears the name of the then proxy and now administrator of Fuera de Escena.
Consell de Ibiza justifies budgets
The head of Communication of the Consell de Ibiza issued a report on September 2nd, 2020 in which he explained that to prove that the cost of the contracted campaign was adjusted to market price, “once the proposal of the company finally awarded [Fuera de Escena] was known, the same budget was requested to another agency with the capacity to work with a similar team to the one that would carry out such action”. Thus, he justified the request for a budget from the Madrid production company Republicana de Cine, where the director Fran Torres works, who is the one who finally directed the advertising short film. The cost estimated by the latter amounted to 437,653 euros, while that of Fuera de Escena Ibiza was 249,018 euros, and, unlike the other proposal, it also included 50,000 euros for advertising and social networks.
