Work begins to implement the blue parking zone in Sant Antoni

The City Council expects to begin charging for parking in the town center as of February 1st

Sant Antoni plans to start charging for parking in the city center as of February 1st, announces the mayor of the municipality, Marcos Serra, in a public appearance with the councilor of Mobility and Public Roads, David Márquez, to introduce the start of the works to install the system in the town center. In this first phase the painting work and the installation of the parking meters begin, noted the mayor.

Later, when the service is operational sensors will also be installed which show which areas parking is available. The blue zone, explained Serra, will be extended from Passeig de ses Fonts to calle Alacant, and will comprise of two zones, one enabled for residents, while the other will correspond to the rest of users. In doing so, zone 1 will be established between Passeig de ses Fonts and calle Soledat, and a second zone, in the section between calle Soledat and calle Alacant.

Parking costs

The costs for users will be set at one euro per hour. People residing in the municipality will have access to a card that, for an annual cost of 30 euros, will allow them to have free parking during the first 2 hours, then a fee of 50 cents for the extra time their vehicle remains parked in a paid parking space. The schedule for the summer payment period, established between April 1st and October 31st, will be from 9:00am to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, with the exception of Sundays and holidays. For the rest of the year, parking will be free on Saturday afternoons, while for the rest of the days it will be reduced by one hour, so that there will be 10 paid hours.
