The bicycle repair points are slowly becoming a fixture in some cities. This is a free public service with tools and tire inflation available to cyclists for basic repairs. Ibiza, through the Consell de Ibiza has joined this trend and already has three public points where bicycles can be repaired.

One of them is located at the Sant Antoni bus station, another in front of the can Raspalls sports complex and the third at kilometer 2.6 of the EI-400 (from the roundabout on the Carretera de Santa Eulària that goes from Santa Gertrudis to Sant Miquel), as reported by the Transport Department of the Ibizan institution.

The three stations are free to use, although a coin is required to operate them which the station then returns to the user after use. They are equipped with the necessary tools for the users to be able to inflate tires, adjust brakes or repair a puncture.

These new repair points measure 134cm high by 44cm and 30cm wide and weigh 45kg. They are equipped with a slotted and Phillips screwdriver and includes a set of torx wrenches, a set of allen keys, a set of open-end wrenches, a wrench and two detachable wrenches. It also has a support to place the bike in and a universal pump adapter.

“The aim of this initiative is to contribute to the improvement of cyclist’s experiences and promote this means of transport to for more sustainable mobility,” explained the second vice president and councilor of Transport of the Consell de Ibiza, Javier Torres.

Other communities such as the Basque Country, Navarre, Andalusia, Cantabria or the Canary Islands, among others, already have this innovative service for cyclists.
