The best plans for the weekend in Ibiza and Formentera

Religious events are the absolute protagonists of the agenda for the next four days in Eivissa and Formentera. Only a few activities escape the omnipresence of Holy Week

The Maundy Thursday in Ibiza, the Rosary of the Dawn with the procession of the Hope and the procession of the Captive Jesus to the Cathedral stand out. Formentera celebrates the procession of the Nazarene, the main procession of its Holy Week.

The Good Friday Eivissa celebrates its main procession, the procession of the Holy Burial, which leaves at 8 pm from the Cathedral and in which all the brotherhoods of the city participate. In Santa Eulària the day begins with the living Stations of the Cross and culminates in the procession, which departs from Puig de Missa at 8 pm.

The main events of Easter Week culminate on Sunday with three processions of the Holy Encounterin Vila, Santa Eulària and Formentera.

Apart from the Holy Week, in Sant Antoni you can enjoy this Thursday the last day of the Pintxa Sant Antoni, by bars and restaurants in the town.

On Friday, the Hard Rock Hotel is hosting a very special La Movidawith the group Tennesee and the dj Chomo Bayo as guests and with the usual march.

And on Saturday a new festival will be launched, the Rock Nights Festivalwith a great line-up formed by Corizonas, Los Invaders, Joven Dolores, Por las Noches and Morris Madrone. It will be from 7 pm on the beach of s’Arenal de Sant Antoni with free admission.

THURSDAY 28TH MARCH

Holy Week

Eivissa

7 hours. Rosary of the Aurora. Procession of La Esperanza from Santa Cruz to the Cathedral. 10.30 hours. Chrism Mass in the Cathedral. 19.30 hours. Mass of the Lord’s Supper in the Cathedral. 19.30 hours. Mass and procession of the Captive Jesus from Santa Cruz to the Cathedral.

Santa Eulària

19.30 hours: Mass of the Lord’s Supper at Puig de Missa, followed by procession.

Formentera

18 hours: Mass of the Last Supper of the Lord in the church of Sant Ferran and procession of Our Father Jesus Nazarene. 6 pm: Mass of the Last Supper in the church of Pilar de la Mola. 19.30 hours: Mass of the Last Supper and subsequent holy hour in the church of Sant Francesc.

Sant Josep Festivities

10 a.m: Walk through Cas Puvils organized by the neighborhood association of Benimussa. Departure from Can Jordi.

Gastronomy

Pintxa Sant Antoni: Pintxo plus drink at 3.50 € and caprintxos at 4’50 in about twenty bars and restaurants in Sant Antoni.

Afterfeina. Tapas and pinchos from 3 € in bars and restaurants in Eivissa.

10 hours: Living Stations of the Cross, from the Market to Puig de Missa. 12 noon: Concert by the Municipal Band of Santa Eulària in Plaza de España. 18 hours: Celebration of the Passion of the Lord in Puig de Missa. 8 pm: Procession with departure and arrival at Puig de Missa.

Formentera

12 hours: Steps in the church of Sant Francesc. 4 pm: Stations of the Cross in the church of Pilar de la Mola. 5 pm: Good Friday services in the church of Pilar. 5 pm: Good Friday services in the church of Sant Ferran. 6 pm: Passos in the church of Sant Ferran. 7 pm: Good Friday services in the church of Sant Francesc.
