Balearic Islands launches free repatriation insurance for tourists who become infected with covid on the islands

The regional ministry of tourism launches a "road map" based on the security of the Balearic destination to give confidence to outbound markets and with which it aims to improve international positioning

Obtaining a share of the overseas market pie this second pandemic summer is going to be more hotly contested than ever. And one portion, that corresponding to British tourism, the second largest in the Balearic Islands, is neither here nor expected this season, unless, with July just around the corner, London keeps its eye on the islands, overlooking the uncertainty that radiates from the Spain brand (amber on its traffic light system of risk destinations). This dossier provided to the media, dubbed the Safety Pack, is defined by the Government spokesman as “a comprehensive tourism safety package”. It includes updated real time information on the pandemic and health coverage with free covid repatriation insurance for tourists (national or international) using regulated accommodation in case they become infected with covid.

The insurance, which will go out to tender, will be paid for by the Comunitat through the Tourism Strategy Agency (Aetib), as well as covid hotels that open this season in all the islands.
