Ricardo Urgell returns to the nightlife world with a venue in Formentera

"Standing still bores me", confesses the businessman, who sold his empire in 2017

Catalan businessman Ricardo Urgell has confirmed in an interview granted to Vanitatis magazine that he will “set up another Lío in Formentera“. Along with two other businessmen from the island, Urgell will return to the nightlife world after selling his empire, which included the Pachá Ibiza nightclub, for around 290 million euros in 2017. He admits he sold because his children “didn’t want that life”, but even today he feels “a lot of sorrow”.

This project does not have a name yet but two local businessmen, Stefano Trigo and Juanma Costa, are involved. Stefano Trigo assured this newspaper that it will not be called ‘Lío’, for the simple reason that it is a registered trademark that they cannot use. They are considering three possiblities, although the three partners have not yet decided on a definitive name.

The establishment is located in the town of es Pujols and has always been open. According to the same sources, an administrative permit is pending to start the renovation of the establishment. The idea, according to the establishment’s management, is that they can open for next season.

One of the partners, Stefano Trigo, said that the intention is to offer a nightlife venue based on gastronomy and “entertainment with artists”. In any case, he preferred to be cautious before specifying more about the project until all the permits are in place.
