UD Ibiza come from behind in Pucela

Carcedo's side were lucky to withstand the pressure at the Estadio José Zorrilla and end a run of three consecutive defeats for UD Ibiza

UD Ibiza came from behind yesterday in Pucela after holding Real Valladolid to a miraculous draw in a game that was dominated by the Pucela side. Pacheta’s side’s lack of effectiveness allowed the Celestes to stay alive until the final minutes, when a Herrera goal validated by VAR brought the score to 1-1. Carcedo went back to basics with a starting eleven similar to that of the first few games, but it was the second-half changes that earned an agonising point that halted the haemorrhage of defeats.

Pacheta’s side soon took control of the ball and the first big chance came from Aguado, who tried to emulate Vicente in Mirandés’ 0-2 win at Can Misses, but his delicate lob hit the crossbar after once again finding Germán in front of him (min. 7).

In the minutes that followed, the Valladolid side stepped up a gear and had a string of clear-cut chances to take the lead. Sergio León, with a cross-shot that went just wide of the post; Weissman, who failed to find the target with a low shot from close range; and Aguado, whose finish from a through ball was met by Morillas’ head on the goal line, sparing a UD Ibiza overwhelmed by Valladolid’s quick pace and attacking flair.
