CD Ibiza wins at Can Misses-3 to open the door to the ‘play-off’

CD Ibiza got rid of Lleida Esportiu with a big result in a match in which Raúl Garrido's team suffered after a 1-0 lead and then settled with 3 goals in the last quarter of an hour.

CD Ibiza reached one of its first objectives this Sunday in their debut campaign in the Second RFEF and is now a ‘play-off’ team. The Ibiza squad yesterday knocked loudly on the doors of the play-offs and for the first time so far this season they moved up to fifth place on the ladder, after beating Lleida Esportiu, a direct rival in Can Misses-3, with a 4-0 win featuring a lot of sacrifice and a final show of power, with goals from Marquitos, in the first half, and Juan Antonio, Simeone and Juan Delgado, in the last part of the match.

The match at Can Misses-3 started in the best possible way for Raúl Garrido’s team, since, after several approaches into Lleida’s domain, CD Ibiza produced a real masterpiece to move ahead in the scoreboard after six minutes of play with a great goal.

The action started on the right flank of the Red and Whites’ attack with a combination between Espínola and Juan Delgado, who received the ball with his back to goal and back-heeled it to the edge of the box to set up Marquitos, who was left alone and in a free position to fire home the opener with an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.

However, with the lead in the scoreboard, the home side lost their momentum and began to back off against Lleida Esportiu, who gradually took control of the ball and the initiative in the game, especially after the substitution of the injured Marquitos at the half hour mark, who was replaced by Pepe Bernal.

The Catalans gained confidence and pressed in search of the equaliser, creating many problems and making the Red and Whites’ defence suffer with the constant incursions of Moha, a real nuisance who generated many problems and danger in the vicinity of goalkeeper Miguel de la Osa, who started for the first time in the league yesterday in Raúl Garrido’s eleven.

It was Moha who created the visitors’ clearest chance of the first half, just before the break, after he caromed along the edge of the area before setting up Monterde, who was left alone in front of the Ibizan goalkeeper, who prevented a 1-1 draw with an excellent save.

A lot of hard work and a lethal strike

The second half was more of a struggle for the islanders, who, however, in the last quarter of an hour of the game, after coach Rául Garrido was sent off with a straight red card, overwhelmed Lleida Esportiu with speed. First Juan Antonio, who scored his first goal for CD Ibiza, scored a key goal in the 73rd minute to stop the visitors’ hopes in their tracks (2-0).

Then it was Simeone, Juan Antonio’s replacement, who ten minutes later made it 3-0 after powering past the Lleida goalkeeper. And just five minutes later Juan Delgado rounded off the scoring to make it 4-0, after winning a long ball and beating the keeper one-on-one with class.
