The history of es Culleram revived in the Archaeological Museum of Ibiza

For the first time on the island, the inscribed bronze plaque found 100 years ago near the sanctuary cave, a Punic piece "of enormous interest for the history of the ancient world and, in particular, for the study of its religions", is on display

The es Culleram bronze plaque, bearing Punic inscriptions, is on display at the Monographic Museum of Puig des Molins. This small artifact provides significant insights into ancient religious practices. Discovered in 1923, it was kept in Alicante for over 90 years before returning to Ibiza for a special exhibition. The inscriptions reveal that the sanctuary was first dedicated to the god Reshep-Melqart and later to the goddess Tinnit. The exhibition showcases over a thousand votive offerings from the sanctuary and details the manufacturing process of terracotta figurines. The event will run until April 2024, accompanied by lectures on the cave and its historical significance.
