Hoteliers are correct when they point out that the tourism saturation suffered by the island of Ibiza during many moments of the summer season has little to do with them. According to their data, its supply of beds has decreased by 0.4% from 2010 to 2020, going from 54,558 to 54,347 beds.

Exorbitant grown in tourism properties

By contrast, the same data offer an exorbitant growth of 506.7%, in terms of the touristic vacation stays. This extra-hotel offer hosted a decade ago (there are only data from 2012) a total of 3,133 places, when two years ago 19,007 were placed on the market. That’s 15,874 more, when hoteliers either withdrew or lost 211.

Another relevant data that is extracted from the statistics provided by the Hotel Business Federation of Ibiza and Formentera (Fehif) is related to the evolution of the number of beds offered by all establishments on the island regardless of the type. From 78,925 twelve years ago, the number has gone up to 96,442 for the 2020 season. There are 17,517 more, representing a growth of 22.2%.
