Route for Formentera’s Carnival parade

The Carnival parade will take to the streets of Formentera on Sunday 11 February. The gathering of floats, troupes and costumes will take place at 11:00 am at the Espai Cultural de Sant Ferran, according to a press release from the Formentera Council.

The rúa arrancará, which will be accompanied throughout the tour by the Batucada Bloco Colubreira, will start at 12.00 am. It will start in Tarragona street, and then join Joan Castelló street until it reaches Guillem de Montgrí street. Once it reaches the playground, the street will go to Major street. From there it will go to Alacant street, from where it will return to Guillem de Montgrí, Sant Jaume street and again to Tarragona street, to return to the Espai Cultural.

At the Espai Cultural will begin at 14 hours a costume ball with the rhythms of PaDjesa and Javi Box. At 14.30 there will be a popular lunch organized by the school Verge Miraculosa. The meal will be free for all people in costume.

Then the prizes will be awarded to the different categories. The adult individual, the first prize will be 200 euros and the second 150 euros. In the children’s individual category, the winner will receive 100 euros and 60 euros the second. As for groups, the winners will receive 400 euros and the runners-up, 250 euros.

In the couples category, the first prize will be 300 euros and the second prize will be 200 euros. Finally, in the category of floats, the first prize winner will be awarded 950 euros and the second place winner 650 euros.
