The Fundació Deixalles presented the data of the 2021 report yesterday in relation to its work in the social and environmental areas on Ibiza. Compared to 2020, last year the non-profit entity Fundació Deixalles, created in 1986, served 37 more people in the various social programs it organizes. There were a total of 309 people in 2021 compared to 272 in 2020, an increase of 13.6%. The president of Fundació Deixalles, Josep Falcó, the coordinator of social projects, Raquel Martínez, and the head of the environmental department, Joan Carles Palerm, detailed the report of activities for 2021 in the new center of the foundation in Sant Rafel.
“For us, 2021 has been marked by the change and improvement of the facilities. We were in another location and now we have a more welcoming and spacious premisis, where we can develop more activities and adapt to all kinds of people,” said Martínez.
The coordinator began by announcing the data from the social area on Ibiza, which consists of different social programs: the pre-labor pathways, “which is for a profile of people with less chances of getting a job”, consists of workshops, in which people stay between six months and a year, they go every day and are given scholarships for practical training. In 2021, Fundació Deixalles served 38 people, three people more than in 2020. Of the people who participated, 60.1% “have improved their skills”, said Martínez, who commented with joy that 95% of these users were “satisfied” with the process.
In the area of mental health they attended to eight people, although the forecast is to “arrange more spaces” to be able to attend to more people, said Martínez.
The employment guidance program was attended by 251 people of the total of 309 of all the services, so “it is the program with the highest volume of work” in the social area. “Orientation is not simply seeing them one day and making resumes, but that they receive attention and follow-up,” the coordinator clarified. The intermediation program serves “to connect people who are looking for employment with offers from companies”, she added.
La Fundació Deixalles fighting for jobs suited to the right person
“We were coming from a very big hole in 2020, where there were not many job placements or many job offers”, according to Martínez, so in 2021 60% more offers were managed and placements increased by 30%. “When we see the data for 2022 they are going to skyrocket because there is a lot of work”, believes the coordinator. The key, according to Martínez, is not only that they find a job, “it is to help them to keep it“, that “it is longterm and that it is not a start and finish”. Moreover, “it is not so much a question of finding work at all costs, but we are fighting for jobs that are adapted to each person and to each particular situation”, she added.
