The man had a criminal record for drug trafficking

The Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a five-year prison sentence for a man who was found in possession of drugs in his vehicle. He was apprehended after attempting to evade a checkpoint in Ibiza following a traffic accident.

ย The facts

On December 3, 2021, a 44-year-old man who had a prior conviction for drug trafficking was arrested following an incident. While passing through a checkpoint, the man was flagged down by a patrol car but chose to flee instead of stopping, leading to his arrest.

As the accused attempted to evade the patrol car, the agents initiated a pursuit along the road leading towards Ibiza airport. However, the chase came to an abrupt halt when the accused was involved in an accident, caused by the excessive speed at which he was driving.

Upon searching the vehicle, the agents discovered nearly 5,000 euros’ worth of cocaine concealed within. Additionally, the man was found to be in possession of over 2,000 euros in cash, which is suspected to have been obtained through drug sales.
