Guardia Civil agents last week arrested 17 people in Sant Antoni, Sant Josep and the Majorcan municipality of Calviร , accused of an alleged crime against public health for drug trafficking.
From the Peripheral Office of Communication (OPC) of the Guardia Civil it has been detailed that the arrests were carried out in nightlife areas of the three localities, “very crowded by tourists precisely at that time”.
In most of the cases, explained the OPC, the detainees were discovered passing drugs by agents of the Guardia Civil or the Policรญa Local of each municipality, with whom the armed forces collaborated. Among the drugs seized were cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Collaborations to combat drug trafficking
The collaborations between security forces, according to the OPC, will be maintained throughout the summer to prevent drug trafficking in the nightlife areas of the Balearic Islands, “where there is a large number of young people”.
