The government does not rule out closing down all nightlife after multiple gatherings without control measures in Mallorca

The Balearic Government announced yesterday a special plan of controls that will be operational the next 31 December and 1 January, with an intense monitoring of establishments where there are more concentration of people.

As explained from the Ministry of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, this device will be coordinated by the Directorate General of Emergencies with the local police of Palma and Calvia, the Delegation of Government and the bodies of Inspection of the Ministry of Tourism.

From the autonomous Executive warned that if the breaches in the nightlife persist, “will have to take strong measures, such as the closure of the entire sector,” and regretted that the efforts of the vast majority of entrepreneurs “can be neutralized by the irresponsibility of a few”.

In contact with nightlife employers

The Balearic Government explained that he contacted the employers of nightlife on the islands to convey their concern about the actions of some of its representatives, who “have put public health at risk,” he warned.

The director of the Balearic Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Ibassal), Rubén Castro, met with the president of the Balearic Association of Nightlife and Entertainment (Abono), Miguel Perez, with the presence of the director of the BCM nightclub, Jaime Lladó, to demand strict compliance with the rules approved to contain the pandemic caused by covid-19.
