Workers finish laying the last cables with lights that run from the dance floor of the disco to the sides of the room. Alba Pau, the patron of the Pacha Foundation, is going back and forth to make sure that everything is going according to plan for the start of the 13th edition of the Gran Fiesta Solidaria de Pacha. “We’ve started very early and we’ve done it little by little: we’ve got everything organised,” she says.

“It is a long-awaited party -explains the president of the Conscience Foundationmarisina Marí- because we are delighted to be able to receive the money that is being raised and that will be collected on the day of the party”. Marí, who received the Diario de Ibiza award for Social Action in October, comments that his association needs more therapists because “right now they are collapsed”. He also hopes that the funds raised at the solidarity event will help hire more professionals.

The organization’s representative, who helps children who have suffered abuse y sexual abuseconfirms that the problem is also the cost of these services: “There are always new families coming to us because of the price increases that have been occurring lately. She adds that each time she encounters more and more cases of people who can no longer afford to pay for these treatments.

Jose Agulla, representative of the Plataforma Sociosanitaria mentions that the proceeds of this event are “a fundamental help” for the operation of the organization. This entity is “a working space for 15 associations,” he says. Marí explains that Fundación Conciencia is one of these groups and that it uses the experts that the platform makes available to the affiliates.

The Sociosanitary Platform has two psychologists two physiotherapists a speech therapist and an administrative servicelists Agulla. He adds that Fundación Conciencia needs specialized lawyers and psychologists because it deals with very specific cases and that, therefore, the proceeds of the solidarity party are at the disposal of both organizations.

The representative of the Plataforma Sociosanitaria regrets that “there is always a waiting list” after the covid pandemic. He assures that they have recently expanded the psychology department, the physiotherapy department and hopes that soon it will be the turn of the speech therapy section: “The problem is that, at the moment, we have a lot of work to do, whatever resources you have, they are insufficient“.

The figures of the solidarity party

This fundraising campaign has so far raised 75,000 eurosas reported by Pau. This amount almost doubles the sum collected four days before last year’s celebration, which amounted to 40,000 euros.

The patron of the Pacha Foundation points out that these figures may be due to the fact that this year’s collection began “much earlier”. In addition, she points out that there are more donors than last year and that contributions have reached up to 10,000 euros. He assures that each ticket costs six euros and that the municipal orchestra of Santa Eulària and 400 children from different dance schools on the island will collaborate in the party, which will be held on Sunday.

In the lobby of the establishment there are placed in several rows the dozens of bags that the organization will raffle during the party. Pau details that they have 700: “We can’t accept more because there is no space or raffle numbers. We are here from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and we couldn’t give away 1,000 gifts.” Last year’s party raffled 650 packages among the attendees, so it also exceeds the record of the 2022 celebration. In addition, the patron of the Pacha Foundation assures that workers, dancers and volunteers will receive “a detail”.
