According to the singer, the meeting with Springsteen was a coincidence. Both found out they were on the island and decided to spend an afternoon together: “Bruce is an amazing person and I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago,” he says in the interview.
“I had lunch with him and his wife,” Gallagher recounted. “I’m not going to say I was a big Bruce Springsteen fan, but I definitely have a lot of respect for him. He was cool, like a kid who was a music fan.”
As Gallagher explains in this medium, Bono has a paralyzing fear of missing out on something (FOMO syndrome). For this reason, and just for a good laugh, he and Springsteen decided to take a selfie and send it to each other.
His friend was quick to respond. How could they both be in Ibiza and he wasn’t? She asked, “What were you talking about?”to which he replied: “We were criticizing you.”.
