This is what the Ibiza Three Kings parade will be like

The Three Kings Kings from the Orient will travel along the main avenues of Ibiza on Friday in a parade made up of six floats and 350 extras, with two tonnes of soft, gluten-free sweets to sweeten the night

It is not quite clear why, but Pegasus, the winged creature from Greek mythology, will lead the Three Kings parade that will set off from the port of Vila on Friday at 6 p.m. and will travel along the avenues of Bartomeu de Rossellรณ and Isidor Macabich (which has been restored after works in recent years), Carrer del Paรญs Valenciร , Avinguda d’Espanya and Passeig de Vara de Rey, where the route will end in a marquee. The procession will be made up of six floats and 350 participants, including extras and members of the different dance schools and gymnastics clubs who will accompany each of the floats and who will enliven the route with their choreographies, as explained yesterday by the Mayor, Rafael Triguero, and the Councillor for Festivities, Fran Torres, during a press conference in the municipal warehouse where they are putting the final touches to the assembly.

As they pass through, the three kings and their pages will distribute two tons of candies (gluten-free and soft, the latter to avoid doing as little damage as possible when thrown to the attending public), half a ton more than in 2023.

After disembarking at the port at 18 hours, the mayor of Fiestas estimates that the procession will begin its journey at 18.30 hours and will reach its goal at around 18.30 hours 120 minutes later.

Streakka is the author and designer of the floats, for which the Consistory has invested 45.000 euros this year (“material, design and elaboration included”, according to Torres). He is working on them, together with Chika (in charge of painting and blurring), starting in October. pegasus will open the parade,” says the artist, “pulling the star of the East. Behind him will be Melchior, seated in a cathedral [la de Vila]and the royal pageboy on an organ that is dropping letters, those of the letters sent by the children; then Gaspar on a whirlwind of desert wind; behind, the magic of astronomy, that of the kings, who are astronomers; and finally, Balthazar, accompanied by a lion and an Egyptian dog and that has a more childish sense, so that the children go to sleep full of illusion”. The lion he is talking about looks more like an Egyptian sphinx, and the dog is very similar to the podenco ibicenco. Another of the floats contains numerous boxes with gifts, tin soldiers, teddy bears and gingerbread cookies. In the one dedicated to astronomy there is an armillary sphere and the representation of the solar system, and the one dedicated to Melchior reproduces the silhouette and the stained glass windows of the Pitiusa cathedral.

Inclusive

It will be a very inclusive ride, both for adults and children kids with autism spectrum syndrome. There will be two points reserved for senior citizens. One will be at the intersection between Bartomeu Rosellรณ and Ignasi Wallis, where an area will be marked off to place 70 chairs; the other will be next to Parc de la Pau, with another 70 chairs. Both places have been chosen because they are close to the Llar Ibiza and Can Ventosa, centers for the elderly. Regarding the inclusion area, it will be next to the Roser church, on Paรญs Valenciร  street: “There we will lower the volume of the music and the intensity of the lightand we will distribute 50 noise-canceling headphones to avoid discomfort among children with autism spectrum disorders, as was done during the fireworks of ses Figueretes last August 15,” according to the mayor. They will also place 30 chairs for them.

In addition, from yesterday and until tomorrow and from 18.30 hours, the royal letter carrier will be present in the Mercat Vellwhere toys will also be collected for less fortunate children.

The Local Police of Ibiza, in coordination with the National Police and Civil Protection, will carry out a security device to ensure the smooth running of the parade of the Kings of the Orient.

Previously, their Majesties will visit the Can Misses Hospital at 4 pm.
