Hotel occupancy grows 6.5% in Ibiza and 14.2% in Formentera in May

The start of this season has yielded new positive data on the two Pitiusa islands, which once again provide clues as to the record-breaking season that may come about, according to the tourist occupancy survey carried out fortnightly by the Hotel Federation of Ibiza and Formentera (Fehif).

In Ibiza last May was closed with a 71.58% average occupancy ratewhile the same month of a year ago was 67.2%which represents a positive difference of 4.39 points and 6.5%.

The second fortnight of May was the one in which made the differencethe occupancy rate reached 73.16%, compared to 72.91% in the same period a year ago. For the island as a whole, the first fortnight of May had an occupancy rate of 69.9%, compared to 61.1% last year.

In a more detailed analysis and by tourist areas, the one of the North of Ibiza was the one that reached the highest average occupancy, the 81,37%followed by the municipality of Vila, 74.38% and very close to that of Santa Eulària with 73.82%. The tourist area of Sant Antoni and its bayregistered the 71,61% occupancy rate and that of Sant Josep 68.76%.

Compared to a year ago, the area that has grown by far in Ibiza as a whole is the North, with 23% more occupancy compared to the same month last year, clearly standing out from the rest of the tourist areas in which Fehif carries out this survey, where the establishments themselves offer their data.

Formentera

Regarding the island of Formentera, the survey conducted by Fehif shows an increase in average occupancy of 14.2%although the hotel bed occupancy percentages do not reach those of the neighboring island, since this month of may, the average occupancy rate is 49.41%compared to 43.27% last year.

On this island the first fortnight of May recorded an average occupancy rate of 48.36%, to stand throughout the second fortnight at 50.4% occupancy.

The entire hotel plant of Formentera, just over 10,000 beds opened to one hundred percent until the second half of May, as happens every season. This does not prevent the data from being clearly better than last year. In 2022 the occupied beds in Formentera, according to the same survey, represented 39.5% while in the second half of May the record was 46.8%.
