Fitur begins its 42nd edition by defending tourism’s cohabitation with the pandemic

Fitur, which opens this Wednesday in Madrid, will bring together a total of 6,933 individuals, with firms from 107 nations in attendance

According to its organizers, the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2022, which takes place from Wednesday, January 19 to Sunday, January 23 at Ifema Madrid, defends tourism’s cohabitation with the pandemic in its 42nd edition.

The expo attracts a total of 6,933 participants, including all of the autonomous communities, companies, and destinations from 107 countries, 70 of which have formal international representation, led by the Dominican Republic, which is this year’s Fitur 2022 Partner Country.

Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, explains the plans for tourism recovery, as well as the creative initiatives and programs that the Ministry is implementing to advance in a new “more digital, sustainable, quality, and safe” model.

Despite the pandemic’s problem, Spain, according to Maroto, has maintained its international leadership position. “During these months, we have increased the sector’s support instruments while working on initiatives and strategies that will allow us to reform our model and develop all of our country’s tourist potential,” he assures.

The Minister of Tourist emphasized that “Spain faces 2022 with a firm foundation on which to construct the tourism recovery,” and that all chances provided by the Recovery Plan must be utilized in order to undertake a “historic transformation” of the tourism model.

To ensure the normal celebration of Fitur, Ifema Madrid reinforces the sanitary controls and enhances all safety measures, which is why all participants in this edition are required to present at least one of the following requirements: EU Covid Digital Certificate, QR Spain Travel Health, and a negative PCR or antigen test within 24 hours of their first access to Fitur are required.

Fitur 2022 also ensures the continuation of the hybrid formula that matches in-person participation of destinations and companies with a digital platform, therefore FiturLIVEconnect will be operational until February 4.

The HELIXA Experience Center project is a novel feature that allows users to create their own unique hyperrealistic 3D avatar in real time, with which they can engage on digital platforms and in the metaverse.

Dominican Republic, collaborator in Fitur

The Dominican Republic, on the other hand, is this year’s ‘Fitur Partner Country,’ indicating the Caribbean destination’s remarkable involvement, significance, and visibility in this important edition for the marketing of the country’s major tourist attractions.

In this approach, and under the motto ‘Lo Tiene Todo,’ (it has everything) the Dominican Republic will have a “very high” visibility to the rest of the globe, particularly the European and Asian markets, where the country has significant economic potential.

According to the organizers, professionals will find a great display of contents from this Caribbean country that has become a world reference in the management of tourism activity during the pandemic, and that has great plans to consolidate the recovery of the flow of tourists to the country and continuously improve the traveler’s experiences, accommodations, transportation, entertainment activities, historical and cultural preservation, as well as meeting spaces.

Sections in Fitur devoted to a single subject
