The Balearic Islands will participate at Fitur, the international tourist show in Madrid, with a 1,000 square meter booth that is 100% accessible and sustainable, with the goal of strengthening the recovery of national tourism to the islands and presenting the archipelago’s “new tourism model.”
According to Ibestat data, the Balearic Islands welcomed 2,281,889 national tourists between January and November 2021, 68.3 percent more than the previous year but 13 percent less than before the epidemic.
Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera will be represented at Fitur by the four municipalities, in a stand coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Model, Tourism, and Labor, via the Tourism Strategy Agency (Aetib), according to a statement from the autonomous department. The stand is an adaption of the one used in the previous edition of the show, which won honors for best exhibitor of the autonomous communities and most sustainable.
The Mediterranean-inspired environment has been modified to covid’s security regulations, with a single door access, route indication signs, capacity management systems, air purifiers in conference rooms, gel dispensers, and separating screens. It is also accessible to persons with hearing or visual disabilities, and numerous methods have been implemented to decrease the impact during the stand’s design, transportation, and building, as well as during the fair’s development.
Balearic Islands consells and municipalities at Fitur
The exhibitor is hybrid because it will supplement digital and face-to-face content, allowing for real-time engagement with individuals who cannot attend the show via the Balearic Islands tourism channel on YouTube.
The municipalities of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera will each have their own booth, as will other island city councils and private co-exhibitors (Grupo Eulen, Iberostar Hotels&Resorts, Inetum, Roig Drive Mallorca and Puro Group Europe).
