Beatriz Benavente’s doctoral thesis provides an in-depth analysis of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (PSEA) in Europe, focusing on its prevalence and the development of a detection tool to assess risk. This tool, validated and supported by the Balearic Institute for Women, is designed to identify suspected cases of sexual exploitation. Her study further explores the often hidden and unrecognized nature of PSEA, highlighting specific vulnerabilities and the impact of new technologies like social media. It emphasizes the need for improved protection systems and social awareness, including the importance of sexual and affective education in addressing and reducing the incidence of child sexual exploitation.
