Four Ibizan DJs to Perform at the I Dona Festival in Ibiza on March 9th

Theater, colloquiums, storytelling and lectures in the program of Vila, which has its climax in the 8M demonstration

The first edition on March 8 of the Dona Festival, where four Ibicencan djs will be playinga round table about genderless professions and the performance of the play ‘La casa de Bernarda Alba’, are among the most important initiatives in the programming of the International Women’s Dayfrom Ibiza Town Hallwhich begin this Tuesday and will end on Friday, March 22. The councilor for Equality, Sara Barbado, presented this Monday all the activities of thel program to commemorate the 8M and invited everyone to participate in the demonstration this Friday to demand real equality, organized by the 8M Commission and with the collaboration of the Consistory and the Consell Insular de Ibiza.

“We want to recognize all the brave women who have fought for the achievements we enjoy today. It is a moment to remember their legacy, claim the rights that are still pending, and combat the inequality that continues to affect women today. With the programming of this 8M, the City Council of Ibiza offers activities for all ages and the motto of this year is ‘Dismantling gender stereotypes in the workplace’ to claim that jobs have no gender,” said Barbado, who added that the Casal d’Igualtat will also be illuminated in lilac from March 4 to 14

Thus, this Tuesday will be held the first conference of the Cycle with a woman’s name: ‘Las escritoras de la generación del 27’, by Milagros Pierna. At 8.15 pm at Can Ventosa Library.

On Thursday, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. at the Casal d’Igualtat, it is planned the Menstruation workshopgiven by Las fantasías de Tànit. Practical workshop with dynamics. At 8:00 p.m. the play ‘La Casa de Bernarda Alba’ (The House of Bernarda Alba) in the auditorium of Can Ventosa, by the company Rita Luna and directed by Maruxa Martos. The second conference of the Cycle ‘With a woman’s name. Conmemoramos el 8 de marzo: ‘Irene Polo, much more than a journalist’, by Rosa Rodríguez Branchat and Àngels Escandell. At 8.15 pm, at Can Ventosa Library.

Feminist march

Friday’s events are organized by the 8M Commission with the collaboration of the Consell and the City Council. From 17 to 19 hours, in Vara de Rey, will take place the feminist snack, badge and t-shirt workshops, making banners and information tables.

At 7 p.m. the demonstration will beginwith departure from Vara de Rey, Ignasi Wallis, Extremadura street and Abel Matutes avenue to Antoni Albert i Nieto square, accompanied by Aiye Batucada. When it reaches the end, the manifesto will be read and then there will be a monologue by Irene Francolí and music. The performance of ‘La Casa de Bernarda Alba’ has been delayed to 21 hours to not coincide with the march.

On the following day, March 9, a ‘purple gymkhana’ with prizes for the winning team is scheduled. Registration is open until noon on that day at C19. It will be played by teams of 2 to 4 people, aged 12 to 18. Registration: juventud@eivissa.es . Organized by the Consell Insular and Ibiza Town Hall.

And that day from 19 to 24 hours will take place the great novelty, the I Dina Festival, in the Plaza Antoni Albert i Nieto, with djs Neliah Kandinska, Ginevra Ramos, Tania Moon and Noelia Mendez, which will have a safe point managed by Red Cross.

The activities are completed with the XII Cursa i VIII Caminata per la Dona (XII Race and VIII Walk for Women) on March 10 in Platja d’en Bossa and co-organized with the City Council of Sant Josep and more theater, cinema and storytelling.
