Two forest fires set off the alarms this Saturday in Ibiza on a day of strong gusts of wind and heat. This morning at 7.15 am has been controlled the fire in Sa Talaia de Sant Joan, while the fire in the area of Cala Xuclar was extinguished at 19.45 hours. A total of 1.3 hectares of pine and juniper forest burned, 0.2 hectares in the first fire and 1.1 hectares in the second.
The first fire, of level 1was declared at 2:00 p.m. in a forested area between Cala Xuclar and Portinatx. At 15.18 hours the Ibanat reported that the fire went from level 1 to level 0, this means that it no longer posed a risk to people or non-forest assets. At 17.45 hours the Ibanat gave the fire stabilized and at 18.45 hours the fire was controlled after burning 0.2 hectares of pine and juniper forest. Finally, the flames were extinguished at 19:45 hours.
The second forest fire, which was declared at 4 p.m. in sa Talaia de Sant Joan of level 1, went to level 0 after being stabilized at 18.30 hours, when the fire had burned 0.5 hectares of pine forest. The fire, which has burned a total of 1.1 hectares, has been controlled this morning at 7.15 am.
Six firefighters and two fire engines were displaced to the place, as reported from the Insular Fire Station, as well as a helicopter, two fire engines, 16 brigadistas, two agents of Environment and a technician, explained from Ibanat.
