The photographer Irina Zadek is currently exhibiting the second part of her project entitled ‘The Art of Living’ at the Centro Antoni Tur ‘Gabrielet’ until 26 September.
Zadek’s gaze gives value to local artists and craftsmen by looking at their way of life, in such a way that each of the characters portrayed appears in their context of creation or work, so that the portrait transcends beyond the image of the protagonist.
On this occasion, the room welcomes five well-known people who are captured by the camera in their usual environment. Zadek develops a series of photos that she shows in different formats to end up forming a kind of puzzle. Irina Zadek has been a resident of the island since 2006. Two years earlier, she began her career as a photographer. Her research deals with the human being and its connections and relationships.
After the first exhibition at the Ajuntament Vell exhibition hall in September 2022, Irina Zadek proposes unpublished images of artists she has photographed and will continue to photograph throughout 2023.
As she explains, she intends with her work “to open a window because we can observe characters performing manual labor to highlight the value of the slow processes of artisanal, artistic and zero kilometer product creation”. Irina seeks, through images, to inspire and raise awareness of the social importance of these people.
