The City Council of Sant Antoni reconfirms its commitment to the LGTBI offering with the celebration of the Iconos Festival from June 9th to 11th. “After the first year in 2021, with a week of culture, music and key names within the LGTBI community, the municipality is already preparing for the 2022 Iconos Festival, adding more attractions to its diverse tourist offering,” said the City Council Wednesday through a note.
Soraya, Angelo Diep, Kuma Pop and Sandra Love make up this year’s lineup, following in the wake of last years festival, held in September 2021, which featured names like Silvia Superstar, Simone and Mr. Cardona or Macho Banana. “All of them filled Sant Antoni with color in a key event on its tourist calendar, with the Catalan electropop group Ladilla Rusa as a finishing touch,” adds the note.
Iconos Festival wants to become a starting point for the high tourist season in the municipality. The councilman of Tourism and Festivities, Miguel Tur, stresses the importance of focusing on new markets that can expand the tourist offering and the diversification of the municipality. “We have made a commitment to LGTBI tourism, since the opening of this market is a plus for the deseasonalization that we are promoting. In Sant Antoni nothing like this had ever been done and these initiatives always add up,” says Tur, who points out that “after Ibiza town, we are one of the pioneering municipalities to hold an event like this. Last year more than 4,000 people attended the Icons Festival and this year we expect even more, since we have prepared everything with great care”.
Tur explains that the aim of the festival “is to turn Sant Antoni in the epicenter of Pride, where residents and visitors can live a unique experience adding fun, vindication, diversity, party and culture, in an exceptional place like Sant Antoni”. “With these events we also promote our municipality, since during this week you can enjoy our unique cultural and natural history, our beaches, sunsets and exceptional gastronomy”, highlights Tur.
Iconos Festival together with Ibiza Pride
The cultural programming and vindication of diversity will include concerts, plays, activities focused on LGTBI culture, as well as themed parties, parties with DJs, food trucks and events.
On Saturday, June 11th, also participating in the Iconos Festival Week program, Ibiza Pride will celebrate the second year of ‘Diversity Celebration’, with performances by Angelo Diep and Soraya, Kumapop, Wait What? and Sandra Love, among other artists.
