Worker seriously injured after being crushed by transformer

The victim, 54 years old, was installing the structure in a hotel in Port de Sant Miquel, in Sant Joan, when she suffered the occupational accident

An operator who was working on a construction site, a man from spanish nationality and 54 years of ageย suffered a work-related accident at around 2:00 a.m. this afternoon, when he was installing an electrical transformer in a hotel in Port de Sant Miquel (municipality of Sant Joan), as reported by the firefighters of Ibiza.

The worker was placing the machinery together with other employees of the electrical installation company where he works when the structure fell on him, leaving him completely trappedย the Island Park reports.

His companions lifted, not without effort, the transformer to try to free the man, who could barely move. However, although they managed to remove the contraption, the rest of the construction was too heavy.

The Consell firefighters went to the scene of the accident with four personnel and a corporal who arrived with a fire truck, they said. On arrival, they released the victim, who presented several fractures in one of his arms and in one leg.

A advanced Life Support ambulance (ALS) of SAMU061 attended the victim, who had serious injuries, and transferred him to the 16.12 hours to the Hospital Can Misses, where he remained under observation in the emergency Department in stable condition.

Agents of the Local Police of Sant Joan and also of the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) went to the hotel where the accident took place prohibited the rest of the employees from moving the boom truck with which they were carrying out the task. In addition, the armed forces have opened an investigation into the case.
