Actress uploads topless photo on Ibiza challenging Instagram: “Let’s see how long it takes before they take it down”.

Instagram has a strict policy on female nudity

Instagram‘s community rules are clear: “We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram” But in this same rule, it assures, “but photos in the context of breastfeeding, birth giving and after-birth moments, health-related situations (for example, post-mastectomy, breast cancer awareness or gender confirmation surgery) or an act of protest are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK too.”

And here end the options for posting photos on the social network in which a nipple is visible (just remember the censorship on Instagram suffered by the poster for the film ‘Mothers’ by Pedro Almodovar in August 2021, whose promotional image, which featured a close-up of a nipple, was removed from IG).

However, there are many women (and among them several well-known faces and influencers) who try to circumvent this censorship by placing on the nipples some kind of emoji or image that covers them. Sometimes this trick works, but sometimes it doesn’t and Instagram proceeds to delete the image.

Finding loopholes in Instagram’s policy

The latest to star to use a trick to upload a topless image to her profile on Instagram is Spanish actress Melani Olivares, who is on Ibiza on vacation. The photo, in which she appears with her son in the water and with her breasts exposed, has exceeded 25,000 likes and, knowing the rules of Instagram, she has covered her nipple with a small emoji. In the text accompanying the photo she has written: “The Virgin and her apostle. Ibiza Locomía. PS: Let’s see how long it takes before they remove the photo.”

Her publication has been applauded and comments of support from Blanca Romero, Topacio Fresh, Silvia Abascal… can be read.
