Storm renders Formentera isolated once again

All ferries between Ibiza and Formentera cancelled due to the storm as of 19.15 hours

Formentera has been cut off again due to the storm that is battering the islands. Although the port remains open, the southwesterly wind is breaking at es Freus and it is impassable.

The shipping company Baleària has cancelled all the routes that connect the Pitiusas from 19.15 hours due to adverse weather conditions. The company has informed of the cancellation of six routes in total due to the fact that the islands are in yellow alert for coastal phenomena and strong wind gusts that can reach 70 kilometers per hour. The Aemet forecasts southwest wind between 50 and 50 kilometers (force seven) and waves of two to three meters high.

Thus, the cancelled departures of the fast ferries of the Eco Series are those of 19.15 hours from Formentera to Ibiza; 20.15 hours in the same direction; 20.30 hours from Ibiza and Formentera; 21.15 hours from Formentera to Ibiza and, finally, the journey of 22 hours from Ibiza to the smaller pitiusa.

The last Baleària ferry to sail from Formentera to Ibiza is the ‘Cap de Barbaria’ at 7 pm with a bad sea warning.

Trasmapi has also cancelled the departure of its boats for this afternoon. The last ferry of this shipping company that has sailed with a bad sea warning has done it at 18.30 hours from Ibiza with arrival in Formentera at 19 hours. The shipping company has cancelled the rest of the routes scheduled from 7 p.m., a total of six.

The cancelled departures from Ibiza to Formentera have been those scheduled at 19.30, 21 and 22.30 hours. And those from Formentera to Ibiza, those of 19.30, 20.30 and 21.45 hours.

The alert for coastal phenomena will remain active from Wednesday until Thursday at 5:00 a.m. and will be activated again on Friday from 18:00 to 23:59 hours.
