The Platja d’en Bossa promenade is now repaired after six months. This week, tourists and neighbors can once again walk the path that runs along the beach, after repairs made by the City Council of Ibiza. Since the beginning of the year, the affected area has remained fenced because of the risk involved. The affected stretch was just under twenty meters, but the Consistory has renewed thirty meters.
In mid-November, the neighbors warned that part of the pavement had sunk, something that some of them had feared would happen. At first, the Policรญa Local put up fences and tape to warn of the danger. Two and a half months later, given the risk posed by the sinkholes, the area was fenced off more permanently, with metal barriers embedded into the pavement of the promenade and lights to mark the area at night.
Promenade and eyesore for tourists
The first tourists of the season found a picture postcard scene: the sunken and fenced area by the sea. The Ibiza City Council assured at that time that the works would begin once Easter Week was over. The Consistory recalled that the promenade of Platja d’en Bossa is located in an area belonging to the Coastal Authority, so it could not take charge of the work until the latter gave permission. The cost of the work, for which estimates were requested from three companies, was 47,204.54 euros, which was executed by Hermanos Parot.
