Formentera approves installation of six new electric vehicle charging stations

The work will begin in the second half of the year and the investment amounts to around 53,000 euros

The Formentera Council has approved the installation of three electric-vehicle charging posts, each with two charging points, bringing the island’s total to six new service points for electric vehicles. According to the institution, the Governing Board initially approved the processing of a project for a 17 kW photovoltaic installation for self-consumption and these three charging stations at the old school in es Cap de Barbaria.

The total cost will be around 53,000 euros and 90% will be financed with Next Generation funds. The work will begin in the second half of the year and its execution period will be one month. With this action, the Consell points out that the points will be added to the more than 25 existing on the island.

Last week, the socialist group of Formentera denounced that only two charging points were working, the one located in the subway parking lot of Plaza Europa, in es Pujols, and the one in Guillem de Montgrí street, in Sant Ferran.

The government team, for its part, denied this information by pointing out that the electric chargers work although they had not been included in the Melib network, which manages them.
