Negueruela: “The unvaccinated put the whole population at risk”.

The Govern spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, appeals to the public's sense of "solidarity and responsibility" and insists that so far no new restrictions have been proposed

The Govern spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, has once again expressed his position on those who are not vaccinated: “They put the whole population at risk, especially older and vulnerable people”. For this reason, he has once again called for vaccination, appealing to the public’s sense of “solidarity and responsibility”. For the moment, he insists, no return to restrictions is being considered.

The Conseller stated that “there is no excuse” because the vaccine has proven to be effective: “We cannot have a population that is unvaccinated”. On this point, Negueruela pointed out that the current situation in the Balearic Islands is “good” compared to neighbouring countries and ruled out “speculation” about possible restrictive measures should the incidence of the disease continue to rise. He also acknowledged that the government is watching “with concern” the decisions being taken in Austria and Germany, while referring to their lower vaccination rates.

On the possibility of covid certificates being requested in hospitality establishments, the Govern has not made clear whether this could be one of the next measures in the Balearic Islands. Moreover, it has noted that the situation is different from last year when restrictions were established because then the vaccine was not yet available.
