“This has been a dream of mine for a while now, be sure to follow along on my ride to Ibiza“, this is the beginning of the adventure of 21-year-old Briton Henry Moores who works as a plasterer and is determined to see the island but, lacking the money to do so, has decided to do it on foot, crossing France.
The young man has posted on Tik Tok his first day of the trip accompanied by a friend, who was initially in his underwear and cowboy hat and then dressed as it got dark. Both carried backpacks and sportswear for the trip. In total they have walked 100 kilometers during 17 hours of travel, which began at 5:49 a.m. until 2:36 a.m. the next day.
This is not the first time he has performed such a feat, as in November 2023 he raised £20,000 for humanitarian action by walking from Britain to Paris (about 805 kilometers), Lad Bible reports. He documented that journey on his TikTok account and hopes to do the same for the one to Ibiza.
How the idea came about
It seems that Henry sent a private message to Wayne Lineker, owner of O Beach Ibizavia his Instagram account, promising him that if he replied to the message he would start the adventure of walking to the island. Lineker replied and invited him to his London home. There he promised him that he would meet the young man in Ibiza as soon as he set foot on the island.
Originally from Macclesfield (in the county of Cheshire), will begin the challenge of traveling the 1,930 kilometers from Manchester to Ibiza on March 2he plans to cover the distance in approximately 60 days (about 20 miles a day) while also raising money to donate to humanitarian causes. The idea is to arrive before this seasonal venue opens. What he has not yet revealed is whether he will travel from the Peninsula (Valencia or Barcelona, probably) to Ibiza by boat or plane.
Henry told Lad Bible that the idea is that when he arrives on the island, he will meet about fifteen friends and family members.
