Ibiza and Formentera are expecting a new DANA this weekend. The Agencia Estatal de Meteorologรญa (Aemet) is forecasting a rainstorm starting this Saturday on the islands. The forecast is for the rains to last until Monday.
The deputy spokesman of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the Balearic Islands, Miquel Gilihas explained that from Saturday onwards, a pocket of cold air will be released from the west of the Peninsula which, despite being far from the islands, will end up affecting the Balearic Islands.
In principle, and although it is still early to forecast with certainty, says Gili, from Saturday the sky will be covered with clouds and by the end of the day there could be some precipitation.
Although the movements of the DANA generate a lot of uncertainty, it appears that on Sunday the storm would affect both Ibiza and the rest of the islands with rains widespread, although it is still lacking to be able to accurately predict times and intensities, continues the spokesman, who is also head of Prediction and Surveillance at the Aemet.
While the rains could arrive from the second half of the day on Saturday, during the rest of the week some heavy showers could fall during the rest of the week mainly in Mallorca but always locally and of short duration, underlines Gili.
Thus, until Saturday temperatures will not drop and will continue with highs of 27 and 28 degrees until the arrival of the DANA at the weekend, which, depending on its movements, threatens to lower the temperature.
Maximum temperatures will predictably stay around 25 degrees, starting September with temperatures well below normal.
