“There is so much demand to rent not just an apartment, but a room, that a camper van may be a housing option,” says Óscar Barca. He has two, one that is practically an independent dwelling (with bathroom included) and another smaller one that barely has the essentials.
More affordable rent
He recognizes that the first one is unfeasible for a worker, since it costs 150 euros a day to rent and is designed for visitors who want to enjoy their experience in Ibiza in another way; the second one, yes it could be feasible. “The rent is a hundred euros a day, but if it is someone who commits to stay until October and takes care of it, I could leave it at a thousand euros a month,” he explains.
And they are not just any vans, he has customised them himself. He had been living abroad for five years and the coronavirus pandemic caught him in Thailand. There he met a couple who had fitted out their van and he decided to do the same, but in Spain.
