The DJ and producer Black Coffee, who has close ties to Ibiza – where he DJs practically every season – suffered an accident last week on a private flight that took him to DJ in the Argentinian city of Mar del Plata.
The flight on which Coffee was traveling suffered some heavy turbulence which forced an emergency landing of his private plane at the Montevideo airport. The producer suffered injuries of varying degrees inside the plane.
The news of the accident came to light thanks to a statement published on the South African’s social networks. It explained that he was receiving the “best possible medical treatment” and that there was “optimism” about his recovery, asking the media and fans that respect his privacy in such a complicated personal moment.
As a consequence of this accident the musician cancelled the Mar del Plata show and two others, for the moment: Day Zero in Tulum, Mexico, on January 12, and a show in Istanbul with Pete Tong on January 13.
Black Coffee is a dj closely linked to the island of Ibiza. Last season, he had a successful residency at Hï Ibiza, where you could enjoy his music every Saturday.

Although details about the severity of his injuries remain undisclosed, a British newspaper has reported that Black Coffee underwent surgery and that he is currently recovering from his injuries in South Africa and under the necessary medical supervision.
He is surrounded by his family, his team and his ex-wife, Enhle Mbali.
Thousands of South Africans have expressed their concern over the incident and are supporting the artist on social media.
“I wish you a speedy recovery, Black Coffee. He has done so much to uplift South African music and take it to the world,” Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, said on X.
Some of the deejay’s biggest achievements include winning a Grammy in the dance/electronic album category in 2022 and selling out New York’s famed Madison Square Garden last October.
