Two detectives will put 1,000 hours of service to bust illegal parties this summer on Ibiza

El Consell sacó en marzo a licitación el contrato, por valor de 144.000 euros, al que se han presentado cinco empresas

In the coming weeks, the Consell de Ibiza will award the contract for private detectives to break-up illegal parties. A total of five companies (Uriz Detectives S.L., Detectives Cabanach, Alpa-mk Asociados Iberia S.L., UTE Detectives Garbo – Intelligentia Pro Justitia S.L. and Novadect CRS S.L.) have submitted bids for the contract, which was published on March 18th on the State Contracting Platform, for a contract worth around 144,000 euros.

The objective is for the detectives to carry out investigation, monitoring, information and documentation of houses where illegal parties are held with sale of drinks and/or tourist stays are marketed, without all these activities being registered in the Register of companies, activities and tourist establishments.

Illegal Parties over Summer

Although the contract will be valid for a maximum period of one year, counted from the signing of the contract, the first vice president of the Consell, Mariano Juan, explains that the service will operate during the peak months of summer, July and August, “which is when more leisure tourists come to the island resulting in more illegal parties”.

In the contract specifications the Consell specifies that the service must have two detectives who hold a university degree in the field of private investigation or the title of the private investigation course recognized by the Ministry of the Interior. In addition, they must have a valid Professional Identity Card (TIP) and documentation accrediting their registration in the National Registry of Private Security or, as the case may be, in the corresponding regional registry, as well as provide their curriculum vitae that guarantees their professional experience of at least three years in the profession.

The conditions also specify that the two detectives working this summer in Ibiza will perform some 34 services which, in hours, translates into 1,088 between them, according to the Consell’s estimates. The service of these professionals will cost around 90 euros per hour.

The services will be invoiced in monthly instalments, with the company awarded the contract issuing an invoice for each of the services performed, always after the completion of the investigations carried out and delivery of the corresponding report.

Despite the fact that the Consell de Ibiza has no authority over activities like illegal parties, which are the responsibility of the local councils, Juan stresses the need to provide them with support in order to put an end to the problem. He also justifies the contract by saying that the institution does not have sufficient human resources to be able to offer a similar service.
