Urban planning on Ibiza: Casa Lola collects 5 sanctioning files for illegal tourist activity

The fines of the Consell for the commercialization of accommodations in Casa Lola total 208,000 euros.

The Consell de Ibiza has opened five disciplinary proceedings in recent years against Casa Lola for carrying out tourist marketing activities without the required authorization, totaling 208,000 euros in penalties, although so far only 80,000 euros have been collected. The institution has also ordered the stoppage of illegal works in Villa Rocío, another mansion of the same owner of Casa Lola, Paquita Sánchez Ordóñez, Marsán.

A spokesman for the Consell yesterday detailed that, during this legislature, four sanctioning proceedings have been opened against Casa Lola in terms of tourism management, totaling penalties amounting to 128,000 euros for advertising, marketing and obstruction of inspection work. The property has filed three appeals against these proceedings, which have been dismissed, so the costs of these proceedings must also be added in addition to the fine.

In the 2011-2015 legislature, the Consell opened another disciplinary proceeding for the amount of 80,000 euros that have already been collected. It is given the circumstance that last Tuesday, during the entry of the City Council of Sant Josep team to Casa Lola, the mayor, Angel Luis Guerrero, said he missed the presence of the inspectors of the Consell to record the illegal tourist activity that was detected inside the resort.

Fraud cases to be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office

In fact, on Tuesday, 60 tourists who had paid to spend their vacations at Casa Lola were evicted, despite the fact that the owner was aware that demolition was about to begin. In view of these infractions, and understanding that a crime of fraud would have been committed against these tourists, the City Council of Sant Josep announced that it would transfer all the records taken during the eviction to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
